(RESUME) Colin Sprigg, Ed.D - Composer / Filmmaker
Picture

Colin Sprigg's most recent work is an eight-movement symphony called The Mulholland Suite. The music tells the story of William Mulholland, a key figure in Los Angeles history. Mulholland, an engineer, is credited with creating the Los Angeles Aqueduct, which provides the water that sustains modern Los Angeles. Each of the eight orchestral movements was initially composed as piano solos and later fully orchestrated by Colin Sprigg, in collaboration with Hollywood film composer and orchestrator Norman Ludwin.

Sprigg says, "This symphonic work is important. While everyone has heard the name Mulholland, they don't know the story of Shakespearean proportions behind the man himself. Anyone who loves LA should know his story, because it's our story." Influenced by 20th Century masters like Holst and Copland, Sprigg has composed a theme driven Symphony to tell the big story of Mulholland.    Currently, Colin is singularly focused on seeing his symphonic work, The Mulholland Suite, be taken on by a world class symphony. One day he will premiere this work for the people of Los Angeles.

Additionally, he continues to learn from professional Hollywood studio bassist, film composer, and orchestrator Norman Ludwin. Sprigg's orchestra music made its debut with the Cerritos College Community Orchestra in the spring of 2019, followed by additional premieres in January 2020 by Conductor Juan Gallegos of the Diamond Youth Symphony Orchestra in Walnut, CA. The Diamond Youth Symphony has continued to premiere new works by Colin in 2021 and 2024.
