ABOUT
Dr. Colin Sprigg, composer and CEO of the Diamond Youth Symphony Orchestra, has been honored numerous times for his film music and scores. As President/CEO of the Diamond Youth Symphony, he has positively influenced the youth of the greater Los Angeles County area by supporting classical music repertoire and introducing young people to music composition. Colin's orchestral compositions have been performed by college and youth ensembles in Southern California. In August 2020, Colin was chosen as one of ten composers to attend the Sofia Symphonic Summit in Sofia, Bulgaria, where his Mulholland Suite for Orchestra was performed by the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Music Director Nayden Torodov. Colin Sprigg's most recent work is an eight-movement symphony called The Mulholland Suite. The music narrates the story of William Mulholland, a significant figure in Los Angeles history. Mulholland, an engineer, is credited with creating the Los Angeles Aqueduct, which provides the water that sustains modern Los Angeles. Sprigg says, "This symphonic work is important. While everyone has heard the name Mulholland, they don't know the Shakespearean story behind the man himself. Anyone who loves LA should know his story, because it's our story." Currently, Colin is dedicated to completing his symphonic work and having it performed by a world-class symphony. FULL BIOGRAPHY |
