ABOUT
Dr. Colin Sprigg is a composer and the President and CEO of the Diamond Youth Symphony Orchestra. He has received numerous honors for his work in film music and orchestral composition. Through his leadership of the Diamond Youth Symphony, he has had a lasting impact on young musicians throughout greater Los Angeles County by supporting classical repertoire and actively introducing students to the art of composition. His orchestral works have been performed by college and youth ensembles across Southern California. In August 2020, he was selected as one of ten composers invited to attend the Sofia Symphonic Summit in Sofia, Bulgaria, for his Mulholland Suite for Orchestra (event canceled due to COVID-19). In 2025, his music was selected by the Veneto Art and Music Summit, where Venice Rising was performed by the Marco Polo Orchestra in Asolo, Italy. That same year, he was also selected by the Composing in the Wilderness Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, where his score Mammoth Steps was performed by the CORVUS new music ensemble at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the Denali National Park Visitor Center. Colin Sprigg's most recent work is an nine-movement symphony called The Mulholland Suite. The music narrates the story of William Mulholland, a significant figure in Los Angeles history. Mulholland, an engineer, is credited with creating the Los Angeles Aqueduct, which provides the water that sustains modern Los Angeles. Sprigg says, "This symphonic work is important. While everyone has heard the name Mulholland, they don't know the Shakespearean story behind the man himself. Anyone who loves LA should know his story, because it's our story." Currently, Colin is dedicated to completing his symphonic work and having it performed by a world-class symphony. FULL BIOGRAPHY |
